Mr. Ford installed a 24 x 24 milking parlour to milk 150 cows 2 times per day on an organic farm in March 2008.

The installation comprised of official milk recording, auto I.D., new Greenoak feeding system, and Parlour Sever auto feeding link.

Mr. Ford recently gave the following appraisal of the system:

A major time saving of 1hr 15 minutes per milking and more time in parlour for cow management.

A 3% increase in milk yield averaging approx 200ltrs a cow – 150 cows x 200ltrs = 30,000ltrs @ 30p per litre = £9,000 increase per year.

Savings in feed since installation of 44 tons over his previous regime which equates to £12,000 per year savings on Mr. Fords feed type.

The system was simple to use both within the parlour and also setting up parameters and tables via computer.

Analysis of Mr. Ford’s savings was carried out by an independent feed consultant.
